According to reports, Riyadh Airport was rocked by explosions amid Houthi attacks
RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s capital was rocked by explosions on Saturday, with dramatic scenes of black smoke rising near Riyadh Airport and nearby facilities.

Some sources reported that two Aramco fuel tanks north of the airport and the airport’s cargo building were hit.

Reuters footage and photos showed large plumes of thick smoke near the Riyadh airport highway, the main terminal and other facilities, while flames were seen rising from behind fuel tanks.
The reports came after Saudi Civil Defense issued a late-night alert warning residents of Riyadh and the eastern city of Al-Kharj about the possible threat of airstrikes linked to Yemen’s Houthi group.
The timing of the explosions raised concerns across the capital, although Saudi officials did not immediately provide an official explanation for the reported blasts or the source of the smoke.
Users reported that the situation had returned to normal before the explosions were heard. The development comes amid fresh tensions between the Houthi rebels. Riyadh also issued an alert earlier this year after the US-Iran war broke out, but the latest warnings mark a new era of heightened concern in the Saudi capital.
