Italy has announced a ban on niqab and burqa in schools.

Rome – Italy has announced plans to ban the wearing of the niqab and burqa in schools.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said students must go to school with their faces uncovered, adding that a ban on the niqab and burqa would soon be approved by the cabinet.

Maloney said the number of foreign students in each classroom is also being limited. He added that parents of struggling foreign students would need to learn Italian.

According to Maloni, foreign students currently make up 11.6 percent of the student population in Italian schools.

The Italian Prime Minister further said that girls cannot be forced to cover their faces in the name of tradition.
