Lahore Police arrested the two main suspects in the case of raping an Azerbaijani woman.
LAHORE – Police in Lahore have arrested two prime accused in the alleged gang rape of an Azerbaijani woman in Defense area, while efforts are on to arrest another accused in the case.
According to the investigation police, accused Ali was detained from Chishtian and brought to Lahore for further investigation. Another suspect, identified as Mohsin, has already been arrested, while police are on the hunt for the third suspect, Tanveer.
The police said that both the arrested accused will be produced in the court today.
The incident reportedly took place three days ago and involved a 20-year-old woman from Azerbaijan, identified as Diana. The police said that she had reached Lahore a few days before the alleged incident.
According to the police account, two unidentified women allegedly lured Diana to a cafe, where three of their male acquaintances were present. The suspects allegedly gave her an intoxicated drink before allegedly sexually assaulting her.
Police further said that the woman was later dropped near the airport, after which the accused fled the area.
The investigation is still ongoing, police are continuing efforts to arrest the rest of the accused.
