ISLAMABAD – Political tension is on the rise again when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi announced that The Long March Towards Islamabad on September 27, it is claimed that up to 4 million people may reach the federal capital.
Addressing the participants of PTI’s street movement at Abubakar Siddique Chowk in Hangu, Afridi said that the upcoming movement will be more than expected. He said that there will be a long march towards Islamabad on September 27 and this time not 2 million but 4 million people will reach there.
CM Afridi said that the planned mobilization took place after the government and administration failed to implement the court verdict regarding the treatment of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Afridi alleged that the verdict issued by the three-judge bench had been ignored. He questioned the application of the law, saying that ordinary citizens should not be subjected to a different standard of justice if the courts are unable to hold “powerful” people accountable.
He said that the orders issued against him by the courts, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) or other institutions were promptly implemented, however, he claimed that despite the time given by the courts, the instructions regarding Imran Khan’s treatment were not followed. “There cannot be one law for the weak and another for the strong,” Afridi said, stressing that justice must be applied equally to all.
The KPK chief minister leveled allegations of ill-treatment of PTI women, claiming that Imran Khan’s sisters have been humiliated and women workers of PTI are facing oppression and oppression.
Expressing solidarity with Imran Khan and his family, Afridi said the former prime minister’s “true freedom” movement was ultimately about the rule of law and access to justice. Turning his criticism to the broader economic situation, the chief minister said institutions need to reflect on the direction the country is heading. He claimed that farmers are struggling while industrialists are shifting their capital abroad.
Afridi added that he would not support any mechanism in which state institutions provide protection to powerful groups. Calling on the youth to be more politically active, he urged them to stand up for their future and play an active role in determining the direction of the country.
