Google has announced a free one-year Gemini subscription for Pakistani students.

Google has announced an important initiative for students in Pakistan with the establishment of its first local office in the country.

Speaking at an event, Google Vice President Wilson White said the company will provide free one-year Google Gemini membership to all Pakistani students. An official announcement about the move is expected later this week.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s goal of making Pakistan a $30 billion IT export hub aligns with Google’s goals, White said.

According to Google’s vice president, the company has contributed more than 3.9 trillion rupees in economic activity to local businesses and households in Pakistan over the past decade.

He added that Google’s ecosystem has supported more than 960,000 jobs in the country.

Pointing to the company’s future plans in Pakistan, White said the establishment of a local office was “just the beginning”.

After the ceremony, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shahza Fatima Khawaja welcomed Google to Pakistan in a post on social media platform X.
