In view of security concerns, picnic spots were closed in Quetta during Eid.
QUETTA – The district administration of Quetta has temporarily closed picnic and entertainment places for the public due to security concerns.
Deputy Commissioner Mehrullah Badini said that this decision has been taken in view of the current situation of law and order in the city.
Under the directive, public access has been restricted to several popular places, including Hina Lake, Hina Urak, Chaltan National Park, as well as the areas of Sara Khala, Karkhasa and Shaaban.
Officials have directed the police and administrative authorities to strictly enforce the ban and ensure that visitors stay away from these sites.
The administration has also appealed to the citizens to follow the official instructions and cooperate with the law enforcement agencies until the situation improves.
On Sunday, a deadly explosion rocked a shuttle train carrying Pakistani security personnel and their families in the southwestern province of Balochistan.
According to provincial government and security sources, at least 24 people were killed and around 70 injured in the blast. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.
The incident adds to a growing pattern of attacks targeting trains, security forces and infrastructure in the mineral-rich region, which shares borders with Iran and Afghanistan. Pakistan has been conducting counter-insurgency operations in the region following a recent surge in violence.
The separatist group Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was a suicide attack.
