Lahore Weather Update: Light rain is expected in the city from Monday.
LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and very humid weather for Lahore over the next three days, with daytime temperatures expected to hover between 38°C and 40°C on Sunday, before easing slightly over the next week.
From Monday, mercury will hover around 37°C–39°C. With humidity levels hovering around 65%, the weather is likely to feel hotter. Although widespread rainfall is not expected in the city, isolated rain and thundershowers may occur in parts of Northeast Punjab.
Currently, moist currents from the Arabian Sea, along with a shallow westerly wave, continue to affect the weather conditions in the upper reaches of the country. Heavy rain is expected in Kashmir and Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood alert for July 20-24, warning of rising water levels in rivers and streams across the province. Officials have warned that the Chenab River at Marala may experience moderate to high levels of flooding, while a flood warning has also been issued for the Ravi River and its adjacent tributaries.
The PDMA has also warned of possible flooding in road hilly areas of Dera Ghazi Khan and urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala, Bahawalnagar and Rawalpindi divisions. Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Rescue 1122, WASA, Irrigation, Agriculture, Health, Local Government, Forests, Livestock and Transport departments have been directed to be on high alert and complete all precautionary measures to deal with any emergency.
