Nepra hiked electricity rates by Rs 1.19 paise per unit.
ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase in electricity rates by Rs 1.19 per unit under the April 2026 fuel price adjustment and has issued a notification in this regard.
According to the notification, electricity consumers will be charged Rs 1.19 paise per unit extra which will be charged in June 2026 electricity bills.
The hike will be applicable to K-Electric customers as well as erstwhile WAPDA Distribution Companies (DISCOs).
The national average fuel charge share was fixed at Rs 8.2 per unit, while the actual fuel price for April 2026 was Rs 9.4 per unit, resulting in an approved adjustment of Rs 1.19 per unit, Nepra said.
However, Lifeline customers will be exempted from additional charges. Prepaid customers and electric vehicle charging stations will also not be subject to the hike.
The notification further clarified that the fuel adjustment will be applicable to the units consumed under the incremental consumption package and the additional charges will be calculated on the basis of April electricity consumption.
These charges will be recovered in the current billing cycle. If June bills have already been issued, this amount will be added to subsequent bills.
