Pakistan Abides by US Sanctions on Iran: Foreign Office Spokesperson
ISLAMABAD – Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan has said that Pakistan abides by all applicable US sanctions on Iran.
Addressing the weekly press briefing, the spokesperson said that Pakistan will continue to implement all sanctions as per international and domestic laws.
Responding to a question about the Iran-US conflict, Sajjad Haider Khan said that Pakistan is in constant and constructive contact with all concerned parties.
He said that Pakistan was facilitating communication between Iran and the US and emphasized that the conflict needed to be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
The spokesman said that Pakistan is urging Iran and the US to fulfill their obligations under the Islamabad Understanding, adding that dialogue and diplomacy are viable options for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Regarding the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), he said that the representatives of all the member countries, including the national coordinator of India, have reached Islamabad.
He termed the visit of a senior Indian official to Pakistan as an important development after more than two years.
In response to another question, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that Pakistan’s diplomatic team is working to facilitate the repatriation of the injured Pakistani nationals and bodies of those killed in Somalia.
He said that Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in Somalia is in touch with the injured Pakistanis while the bodies of the dead will be brought to Pakistan by Ethiopian Airlines.
