Pakistan rejected the Taliban’s claims regarding the clashes in Nuristan as baseless.

Islamabad – Pakistan has rejected the groundless allegations of the Afghan Taliban government regarding the clashes in Nuristan province of Afghanistan.

In a statement, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that Pakistan is not involved in any internal conflict in Nuristan or Afghanistan. He dismissed claims of involvement of Pakistani security forces and intelligence agencies as fabrications.

The ministry also rejected allegations that Pakistan is recruiting or training former Afghan government officials or facilitating any terrorist group, including ISIS.

It said that no corroborating evidence of Pakistan’s involvement had been presented. No identification, documents, communication records or forensic evidence were provided to support the allegations.

The ministry added that a video circulating on social media has not been proven to be related to Pakistan. He said that continuous UN reports have highlighted the presence and activities of terrorist organizations in Afghanistan.

According to the ministry, terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil are a threat to Pakistan and regional security. It said that the Taliban government’s allegation that Pakistan supports terrorism is surprising, given that terrorists are allegedly being given sanctuaries in Afghanistan.

The ministry urged the Taliban government to take concrete action against terrorist organizations instead of blaming Pakistan for its internal security problems.

He also called on the Afghan authorities to fulfill their commitment to prevent Afghan soil from being used for terrorism against Pakistan or any other country.

The information ministry added that such claims about what it described as an exclusive and unrepresentative Taliban government were aimed at diverting attention from internal dissent and alleged oppression of women, children and minorities.

Earlier, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense claimed that its forces conducted an operation against a group that entered Nuristan from the Pakistani border. It claimed that 28 militants, including Daesh members and former Afghan government officials, were killed and scores wounded.
