Pakistan’s civil-military leadership stresses unity and sacrifices as nation celebrates Eid-ul-Azha 2026
ISLAMABAD – The civil and military leadership has congratulated the nation on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha 2026, conveying a message of unity, sacrifice and compassion to the people of Pakistan.
In their separate messages, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that Eid-ul-Azha reminds Muslims of the great spirit of obedience, patience, loyalty, sincerity and sacrifice which reflects the great legacy of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS).
The President said that true spirit of sacrifice requires making room in one’s heart for others. He further said that the joy of Eid is incomplete unless the poor, destitute, orphans, widows, labourers, disabled persons and other less privileged sections of the society are included in the joy. He emphasized the need for special care for those who suffer in silence without expressing their needs.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the spirit of sacrifice, unity and solidarity is essential for the long-term development and prosperity of nations. He said that on this occasion, the entire nation expresses complete solidarity with the oppressed brothers and sisters of Palestine and India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He prayed that Allah Almighty blesses the Muslim Ummah with the true blessings of Eid-ul-Adha, accepts their sacrifices and makes the world a cradle of peace, love and harmony.
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu congratulated the people of Pakistan.
The Armed Forces of Pakistan paid tribute to the resilience of the Pakistani people and the sacrifices of the martyrs, armed forces, law enforcement agencies and citizens protecting the homeland while appreciating the enduring peace, prosperity and unity of the nation.
Eid al-Adha is a symbol of sacrifice, faith and unity. The armed forces of Pakistan are steadfast in their sacred duty to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and stand shoulder to shoulder with the nation in the pursuit of peace and stability.
On this auspicious occasion, special tributes are paid to the families of martyrs of Pakistan, whose unparalleled sacrifices are strengthening the foundations of the country.
