PIA restricts cabin crew to one pack of cigarettes during flight duty.

ISLAMABAD – The management of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has imposed a new ban on cabin crew carrying cigarettes during flight duty and warned of strict action for violation.

According to the circular issued by PIA, cabin crew members will be allowed to carry only one pack of cigarettes during flight duty.

The circular states that each crew member can carry a maximum of 20 cigarettes during the journey. Strict action will be taken against cabin crew members carrying more than one pack or 20 cigarettes.

Violators may face suspension and may even be removed from flying duty, according to the PIA notice.

The management has directed that cabin crew members be briefed about the new ban before flights and directed the crew to ensure full compliance with the directive.

Sources said that five cabin crew members traveling on a flight from Multan to Jeddah were found with a large number of cigarette packets. PIA’s Human Resources Department is currently investigating the matter involving the five staff members.
