Prime Minister Shahbaz and Erdogan discussed bilateral relations and regional peace in the Eid call

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif telephoned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to extend Eid-ul-Adha greetings, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and regional peace efforts.

According to the statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Shahbaz Sharif congratulated the Turkish leadership and the Turkish people on the happy occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

Recalling their recent meetings, particularly the April talks in Antalya, the two leaders reiterated that the historical and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Turkey have grown stronger over time.

The leaders agreed to ensure speedy implementation of key decisions taken during recent high-level engagements, particularly in the areas of trade and investment aimed at boosting economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the talks, the parties also discussed the ongoing efforts for regional peace. Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked President Erdogan for Turkey’s continued support for Pakistan-led peace initiatives, while the two leaders agreed to continue close coordination for dialogue, stability and de-escalation in the region.

President Erdogan also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic train bombing in Balochistan on May 24 and assured Pakistan of Turkey’s unwavering support in the fight against terrorism.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif thanked the Turkish President for his solidarity and sympathy and reiterated that Pakistan will continue its all-out war against terrorism.
