Prime Minister Shehbaz urged Iranian President Pizshakyan to exercise restraint over the phone amid US attacks
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pizshakyan, expressing Pakistan’s deep concern over the escalating situation in the region and calling for immediate restraint to prevent further destabilization.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the preservation of peace and stability must be the top priority, urging Iran and all other parties concerned to avoid actions that could reverse the diplomatic gains made in recent months. He stressed that dialogue and restraint are necessary to prevent the crisis from deepening.
Highlighting the importance of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Prime Minister Sharif described the agreement as a long-term framework to strengthen mutual trust, expand cooperation and promote shared prosperity in the region. He stressed the importance of full implementation of the commitments made under the agreement.
Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, the Prime Minister assured President Pizshakyan that Islamabad would continue to play a constructive and impartial role in supporting every effort to facilitate talks and maintain stability.
President Pizshakyan thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and other senior Pakistani officials for attending the funeral prayer of late Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei. He appreciated Pakistan’s continuous support for peace initiatives and reiterated Iran’s commitment to regional stability.
The two leaders reviewed the progress on the decisions taken during the recent visit of President Pizshakyan to Islamabad and agreed to accelerate the implementation of these MoUs to further expand bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also sent a message of congratulations and best wishes to Leader Supreme Ayatollah Syed Mujtaba Hussaini Khamenei.
