PTI rejected the budget 2026-27 terming it as anti-poor.
Islamabad – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the federal budget for the upcoming financial year, calling it an “anti-poor and elite-friendly” fiscal plan.
PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram termed the budget as the budget of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN), alleging that it favors the rich while putting extra burden on the common man.
He claimed that the budget is a manipulation of figures and is not based on genuine reforms but on harassing honest tax payers. He also criticized the use of faceless audit systems, saying they unfairly target law-abiding business owners.
Sheikh Waqas Akram said the government had imposed excessive taxes in the last three to four budgets, adding that the latest budget continued the same pattern of ‘statistical manipulation’ instead of meaningful economic reforms.
He further said that the budget ignored the massive tax evasion and punished the honest taxpayers, calling it a fraud and an anti-people policy, and declared that the PTI completely rejects it.
Meanwhile, during the budget session of the National Assembly, PTI lawmakers protested strongly, surrounded the Speaker’s podium, tore copies of budget documents and boycotted the Finance Minister’s speech.
