KARACHI – Heavy monsoon rains lashed Karachi, bringing relief from the heat but raising fears of urban flooding and power outages in many parts of the city.
Rain was reported in several areas including Tariq Road, Site Area, Manghopir, Gulshan Iqbal, II Chandrigar Road, North Nazimabad and Federal B Area, where residents faced severe problems due to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.
The wet spell also caused power outages in several parts of the city, with residents reporting power outages during the ongoing rains.
According to the latest weather forecast, Karachi and other parts of Sindh are expected to continue receiving thundershowers over the weekend as Monsoon currents are active across the region. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that a low pressure area (LPA) is currently over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining areas, allowing monsoon currents to continuously enter the southern and central parts of the country.

- Saturday: Rain and lightning activity will continue, while maximum temperatures are forecast to range between 33°C and 35°C.
- Sunday: Rain activity is expected to decrease, with partly clear and sunny conditions returning. The temperature will be between 33°C and 35°C.
The weather system will also affect several other areas, Sindh, Northeast and South Punjab, Lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Northeast Balochistan are expected to receive rain and thundershowers during the weekend.
The Meteorological Department has warned that isolated heavy rains are also likely in Sindh and South Punjab, urging citizens and concerned authorities to remain alert during the ongoing monsoon spell.
