Strait of Hormuz to open only under Iranian arrangement, Tehran warns US hit 90 military targets
TEHRAN – Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Baqir Ghalib has warned that the Strait of Hormuz will open only under Iranian terms as the US steps up strikes to target military targets in Iran.
In a post on X, he wrote: “America has yet to learn that there is no price for bullying and breaking promises. Let me say it clearly: If you strike, you will get hurt.”
“Don’t hang around aimlessly, or you’ll sink deeper,” he warned: the Strait of Hormuz will only open with “Iranian arrangements,” not American threats.
Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces had completed an additional round of strikes against Iran on July 8, to further reduce Iran’s ability to attack merchant ships and innocent civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz.
US forces hit about 90 Iranian military targets, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coastline. The latest attacks followed a successful offensive in Iran the night before.
CENTCOM forces hit nearly 80 Iranian military targets on July 7, including more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats, to pay Iran a heavy price for violating the ceasefire by attacking three merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. forces are alert, lethal, and ready to execute operations directed by the Commander-in-Chief.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had attacked two US military bases in Kuwait and two US bases in Bahrain in response to US attacks on Iran.
The IRGC also warned that if the U.S. carried out further attacks, its response would extend to additional U.S. military bases throughout the region.
