7 tourists killed as car plunges into ditch near Ferry Meadows in GB
ISLAMABAD – Seven people were killed in a tragic road accident after a tourist vehicle en route to the famous Ferry Meadows met with an accident in Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to the police, the accident took place in Chilas area where the vehicle carrying the tourists fell into a deep ditch. Immediately after the incident, rescue teams, police personnel and local people reached the spot and started rescue operations.
Officials have confirmed that seven people died on the spot, while the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Among the deceased, the driver has been identified as Ziaullah, a resident of Dariel area of Diamer. Two tourists have been identified as Ali and Sajjad, while efforts are on to identify and trace the natives of the rest of the victims.
Rescue sources say that the difficult hilly terrain and loss of control of the vehicle are being considered as possible reasons for the accident. However, a full investigation of the incident is currently underway.
