Aleema Khan rejected the claim of meeting former army chief Imran Khan in jail.
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan on Monday dismissed reports on social media claiming that the former army chief had met the former prime minister in Adiala jail as “completely fake”.
In a post on social media platform X, he said that all the claims doing the rounds about such a meeting are baseless and have no truth.
He added that the reports were also checked with PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, who confirmed that the news was “completely fake”.
Aleema Khan dismissed the claims as misinformation, saying they were being spread to divert attention from Imran Khan’s “solitude” in jail. They alleged that the PTI founder was not being provided with proper medical care for his eye condition, was not allowed to interact with his sons, and was denied access to books and television for months.
He further claimed that Imran Khan has not been allowed to communicate with the outside world during the last six months, except for two court-ordered visits by his lawyer.
According to him, the full bench court order allows 18 visits per week, including six family members and six lawyers on Tuesdays and six parties on Thursdays. He said that these are legal rights guaranteed under Pakistani and international law.
His statement comes amid recent speculation on social media regarding an alleged meeting between Imran Khan and the former army chief in Adiala Jail, where he has been lodged since August 2023.
Imran Khan is serving a sentence in several cases, including 14 years in the £190 million corruption case and 17 years in the Tosha Khana 2 case.
He recently underwent a medical procedure at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad on January 24, after which his treatment continued.
In addition, Imran Khan’s family has alleged restrictions on contact with his sons Qasim and Sulaiman, who live in London, and accused authorities of delaying their visas.
Meanwhile, the PTI continues to stage sit-ins outside Adiala Jail on court-mandated meeting days, although gatherings have reportedly been disrupted in recent months. Party leaders including Aleema Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi have also blamed incidents of firing during one such protest.
