A terrible fire broke out in Lahore’s New Azam Cloth Market. Rescue operation underway
LAHORE – A massive fire broke out in a clothing warehouse on the fourth floor of MZ Plaza in Lahore’s bustling New Azam Cloth Market near Shiranwala Gate, prompting a massive emergency response as firefighters struggled to contain the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings.
As soon as the fire was reported, teams of Rescue 1122 reached the spot and started a massive fire-fighting operation. According to rescue officials, seven fire tenders, two rescue vehicles, two specialized rescue vehicles, one ambulance, two rescue motorcycles and 45 rescue personnel have been deployed to control the fire.
The operation is being personally supervised by District Emergency Officer Dr Rizwan Chaudhry, who is overseeing efforts to control the fire and prevent it from engulfing other parts of the commercial building.
Rescue officials said efforts to put out the fire are in full swing as teams continue to work to douse the fire and prevent further damage. No casualties have been reported so far while the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
