Pakistan rejected Afghan Taliban’s false narrative on Badakhshan violence.

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan hit back at the Afghan Taliban over a fresh anti-Pakistan claim, dismissing as misleading and fabricated the statement by spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid linking the Pakistan Army to armed clashes in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a detailed fact check rejecting Mujahid’s remarks during an interview with Afghan media. Mujahid claimed that Pakistani army personnel were present during armed clashes in Badakhshan. However, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information categorically rejected the allegation and said that there is no truth to the claim.

Islamabad said the violence in Badakhshan reflected Afghanistan’s own growing security and governance challenges rather than Pakistan’s involvement. Available independent reports indicate that the clashes are linked to internal armed resistance to what has been described as unrepresentative and repressive Taliban rule.

Pakistan argued that attempts to portray the fighting as the result of foreign intervention were being made to divert attention from the internal problems of the Taliban regime.

The Ministry of Information said that Pakistan continues to support a peaceful and stable Afghanistan and has no interest in destabilizing its neighboring country. The ministry also urged the Taliban government to stop blaming Pakistan and instead confront the growing problems arising from its own government.

It further alleges that the Taliban government is resorting to anti-Pakistani propaganda to cover up its declining influence and growing resistance within Afghanistan.

Pakistan said that the Taliban’s attempt to portray the growing armed conflict in Afghanistan as an external problem is based on baseless and fabricated allegations. The Ministry’s fact-checking made its position clear: linking the violence in Badakhshan to Pakistan is counterfactual and misleading.

The latest war of words comes as Afghanistan faces mounting internal security challenges, with Islamabad accusing the Taliban government of blaming Pakistan instead of addressing unrest within its borders.
