The introduction of PTA’s tax payment facility has given relief to smartphone users.
ISLAMABAD – A major development has been announced for smartphone users facing hardship due to high PTA taxes on imported smartphones, with a new facility to pay taxes in installments.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Qasim Gilani said on social media platform X that after two years of efforts, smartphone users have got the facility to pay PTA tax in installments instead of paying it all at once.
Under the new facility, customers will reportedly be able to pay taxes ranging from Rs 100,000 to Rs 250,000 in monthly installments of Rs 8,000 to Rs 17,000.

The facility is aimed at reducing the immediate financial burden on consumers who are struggling to pay the hefty tax on imported smartphones in one lump sum.
Gilani said that efforts will continue to get more relief and additional incentives for the public.
This development is being seen as a major relief for smartphone users. However, the final details regarding the terms, duration and implementation of the installment facility are yet to be announced.
