Earthquake tremors in various areas of Punjab including Lahore

Residents across Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Muridke, Kamuke, And several nearby towns reported mild to moderate tremors Friday evening, prompting brief panic as people rushed out of homes and buildings.

According to preliminary seismic data, an earthquake of magnitude 4.9 was recorded on 05 June 2026 at 21:35 in the Kashmir-India border region. The event started at a shallow depth of about 18 km, centered at 32.33°N, 76.58°E within the Himalayan active collision zone where the Indian plate meets the Eurasian plate.

As tremors were felt in the region, social media users took to X and other social platforms to share updates on the earthquake activity.

No loss of life or property has been confirmed yet. Emergency and disaster management teams are monitoring the situation and collecting data from the affected areas.

Tremors were felt in several urban centers in Punjab, with residents reporting shaking for a few seconds. Officials have urged the public to remain calm and rely on official updates as earthquake data is analyzed.

Due to the interaction of three major tectonic plates – Arabian, Eurasian and Indian plates, Pakistan is located in a highly active seismic region. This geological setting places the country in several seismic zones, making earthquakes relatively frequent.
