‘Electric shocks, rats’: Bushra Bibi’s sister expresses concern over prison conditions
ISLAMABAD – PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi’s sister has expressed concern over the reported conditions in the jail of the former first lady.
Speaking to a private news channel, Maryam Vito alleged that Bushra Bibi faced severe hardships during detention, including health-related problems and problems inside her cell. He claimed that his sister was electrocuted twice due to faulty electrical fixtures which became dangerous during the rain.
He further alleged that detainee Bushra Bibi suffered severe eye pain and said that she had sought medical attention but was not given immediate attention. Maryam Vito also made claims regarding the condition of the prison cells, alleging the presence of rats and poor facilities.
According to her, Bushra Bibi told her that rats fell on her while she was praying and that the cell lacked basic facilities including ventilation and air-conditioning.
Maryam Vito questioned the treatment of her sister and demanded more attention from human rights organizations. He said that the situation is worrisome and more efforts should be made to address the issues he has described.
The allegations were made by Maryam Vito during an interview and have not been independently verified.
