In Lahore, branches of the famous coffee shop Double Shot were sealed over the tax issue.

LAHORE – The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has sealed several branches of Double Shot, a popular coffee shop in Lahore, over discrepancies in tax matters.

It said that the branches have been sealed under Section 59A of the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 2012.

“Whereas, during enforcement activities it was noticed that despite installation of Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS), invoices were being issued bypassing EIMS in violation of Section 5913 of the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 2012 read with Punjab Electronic Invoice Monitoring System, F2019. Submitted on 11-06-2026 Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS) has been issued while passing, issuance of sales tax invoices outside the EIMS framework deprives the government of legitimate revenue and constitutes willful non-compliance on your part.

The following branches in the bypass of EIMS were found issuing receipts: (i) Gulberg Branch (ii) Falcon Complex, Kent Branch (iii) C Block, Model Town Branch (iv) DHA Phase 6 Branch Lalak John Chowk, DHA Phase 72 Branch (vi) Pine Avenue Branch (vii).

The PRA said that it has been observed that the actual sales made at your business premises are not in accordance with the sales declared in your sales tax returns, indicating that you are suppressing your actual taxable turnover and deliberately under-declaring your sales in violation of the provisions of the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 20124.

In view of the above, therefore, in exercise of the powers vested under Section 59A of the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 2012, the undersigned has ordered the immediate sealing of the business premises of the above seven branches until full compliance with the provisions of the Act, or whichever is earlier for a period of one month.
