Stage plays and cultural performances banned in Punjab till 13 Muharram
LAHORE – The Punjab Arts Council has issued an official notification in this regard and announced to keep all theaters across the province closed from 1st to 13th of Muharram.
According to the notification, there will be no stage drama or cultural performance during Muharram.
The theater management has been directed to ensure strict compliance with the ban on performances during mourning days.
Meanwhile, security arrangements are being finalized for Ashura day across the country. Provincial governments and district administrations are reviewing the routes of processions and religious gatherings to ensure smooth and safe arrangements.
Law enforcement agencies have been directed to deploy additional personnel at sensitive locations to maintain law and order. Authorities are also preparing emergency plans to deal with any emergency during Muharram.
Officials said the measures were aimed at ensuring peace and providing a safe and dignified environment for mourners attending religious ceremonies during the holy month. Liaison between security agencies and local administration is being strengthened to avoid any untoward incident.
The overall focus is on maintaining religious harmony, public safety, and uninterrupted support for processions and gatherings across the country.
