No immediate plans to resume war against Iran, Trump told adviser
According to US media, US President Donald Trump has informed his closest advisers that he does not currently intend to engage in a renewed conflict with Iran and instead prefers a diplomatic solution to reduce regional tensions.
Trump has indicated that no new military action against Iran is expected unless American troops or American interests are directly targeted, reports said. The administration is said to prefer resolving conflicts through diplomatic means rather than escalating military confrontations in the Middle East.
The report added that Washington is trying to avoid escalating conflicts in the region and is exploring various diplomatic avenues to ease tensions.
In a parallel development, US-mediated efforts have led to progress in ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Lebanon. After the fourth round of trilateral talks in Washington, a joint statement confirmed that both sides had agreed to ceasefire arrangements.
Analysts suggested that regional tensions could further ease if the US avoids direct confrontation with Iran and ceasefire talks between Israel and Lebanon remain on track.
However, they also note that the situation is uncertain, and that upcoming diplomatic efforts will play an important role in shaping future developments.
In addition, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that diplomatic contact between Iran and the United States had not been severed, saying that the proposals and messages exchanged were currently being reviewed.
In remarks during a televised interview, he said Iran’s armed forces were continuing defensive operations in response to threats and warned Tehran was capable of responding decisively to any aggression.
He further warned that an Israeli attack on Beirut or any part of Lebanon would trigger a strong response from Iran.
Araqchi also held telephone talks with foreign ministers of several countries, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, France, Turkey, Qatar and Egypt, focusing on regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions.
