In another blow to Pakistanis, the federal government announced a new hike in petroleum prices, making petrol, diesel and kerosene more expensive from July 23.

Following the recommendations of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the government increased the price of petrol by Rs 6 39 paise per litre, after which the new price became Rs 327 12 paise per litre.

The price of High Speed ​​Diesel (HSD), widely used in the transport and agriculture sectors, has been hiked by Rs 7.83 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs 375.04 per litre.

The government has also increased the price of kerosene by Rs 7 80 paisa per liter after which the new price has been fixed at Rs 297 17 paisa per litre.

The revised rates notified by Ogra will come into effect from July 23, further adding to the pressure on households and businesses that are already grappling with the rising cost of living. The latest hike is expected to increase transport and logistics costs, raising fears of another round of inflation in essential goods and services.
