Rain forecast in Pakistan from 6 to 10 July 2026 – alert issued
ISLAMABAD – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for heavy rains, flash floods and possible landslides in many parts of the country from July 6 to July 10.
According to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), an active weather system is expected to enter North Pakistan on July 6, bringing thundershowers over Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Potohar region and Northeast Punjab.
The authority said that intermittent rains have been forecast in the upper reaches of the Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej between July 7 and 10, with heavy rains likely at some places.
On July 7, there is a possibility of increased intensity of rains in Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, North Punjab and North Balochistan.
The NDMA said the expected rains could lead to an increase in water inflow in Tarbela and Mangala dams and a slight rise in water levels in major rivers. However, it added that there is currently no risk of large-scale river flooding.
The authority warned that mountain streams and seasonal rivers could flood, while low-lying urban areas could experience urban flooding. It has also warned of possible landslides and rock falls in hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The NDMA has directed all concerned agencies to remain alert and advised the public to follow official weather updates, travel advisories and emergency alerts. Citizens are also encouraged to use the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert mobile application for updated information.
