Saudi jets launch 38 strikes on Yemen, another blow to Houthi rebels
Sana’a – A fresh wave of Saudi air and missile strikes has intensified fighting in Yemen, with Houthi forces claiming 38 attacks in three provinces in just 24 hours, killing or wounding civilians, including women and children.
According to Houthi army spokesman Yahya Sari, the strikes targeted Taiz, Saada and Hajjah, another major escalation in the rapidly escalating conflict.
The Houthi-affiliated news agency reported that three Saudi air strikes hit Saada governorate on Tuesday, while a local source said the Sahar district was targeted in three separate raids.
Sari claimed that the latest strikes involved F-15 and Typhoon fighter jets operating from Saudi bases in Khamis Mushit and Taif, while missile strikes were launched from Najran and Jizan.
The Houthi spokesman further claimed that the latest strikes brought the total number of Saudi air and missile strikes to 1,123.
The claims come amid a sharp deterioration in Yemen’s conflict, with increasingly heavy attacks reported by both sides. Saudi Arabia has also accused the Houthis of attacking civilian and economic targets inside the kingdom, with Saudi officials previously reporting dozens of civilian casualties.
Claims of the latest Houthi casualties have not been independently verified, while Saudi officials have not publicly confirmed the full details of the 38 attacks described by a Houthi military spokesman.
