Workers injured in an Iranian attack on a Kuwait Petroleum Corporation oil facility
KUWAIT CITY – A fresh wave of regional tensions erupted after Iran targeted a Kuwait Petroleum Corporation oil facility, injuring workers and causing damage. The attack, which also damaged key electricity infrastructure, heightened concerns about the security of key energy assets in the Gulf.
Iran has launched fresh drone and missile strikes in the Gulf, hitting key oil, power and water facilities, raising concerns about the security of critical infrastructure across the region.

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) confirmed that one of its oil facilities was repeatedly attacked, causing extensive material damage and injuring several workers. Iranian missiles also reportedly hit a power and water plant, shutting down several power-generating units.
The attack followed another attack on similar infrastructure, marking what Kuwaiti authorities described as a crackdown on essential civilian facilities.
Firefighters fighting the fire, along with a worker at the affected site, were injured during emergency operations, Kuwait’s fire department said.
Condemning the attacks, Kuwait’s foreign ministry accused Tehran of targeting civilian infrastructure, warning that repeated attacks threaten public security and threaten the country’s stability. Terming the attacks as a serious threat to civilian lives, the ministry said, “Repeated targeting of these critical installations demonstrates a systematic hostile attitude against urban centers and critical infrastructure.”
The latest tensions came as the United States carried out strikes against Iran for the seventh night in a row, further escalating the conflict. In retaliation, Tehran also stepped up its military response beyond the battlefield, launching drone and missile attacks on Gulf states not directly involved in the conflict, including Kuwait and Bahrain.
Air travel was also affected by the attacks. Kuwait Airways announced that it has rescheduled most of its flights after authorities temporarily suspended operations at Kuwait International Airport following the strikes.
