The speaker of Iran’s parliament hailed the US MOU as a major achievement amid Khamenei’s funeral.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Baqir Ghalib hailed the recently signed memorandum of understanding with the United States as a major political and military victory for the “Axis Resistance.”

Speaking during a meeting with Yemeni Vice President Mohammed al-Nu’aimi, Al-Qhalbaf said the memorandum was “a victory for the US defeat and the axis of resistance, both militarily and politically.” He also warned that the US and Israel would “resort to war” if they sensed any weakness on Iran’s part.

Also, Iranian Army Chief Major General Amir Hatami said those responsible for the assassination of Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will be pursued and “will not escape their fate.”

Hatami said the late Supreme Leader had defined the path of “honor, freedom and national dignity”, adding that Iran’s armed forces would continue to follow that path with determination. He also said that the armed forces will perform their duties without any hesitation under the leadership of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mujtaba Khamenei.

Meanwhile, Ali Khamenei’s funeral is underway in Tehran. According to Press TV, the procession started from the Grand Mosque of Tehran, where his body lay for two days.

Organizers expect the funeral procession to last 10 to 12 hours, following a 10-km route through several major roads and squares in the capital to reach the area near the Mehrabad airport. Tasnim news agency reported that the vehicle carrying Khamenei’s body was ready to enter the funeral route.

After the ceremonies in Tehran, Khamenei’s body will be taken to the holy city of Qom for further burial.
