KOHAT – 16 people were martyred and 57 injured, including police personnel, in a suicide attack during Friday prayers in Kohat, while a major operation by law enforcement agencies against armed terrorists is underway in the area.
Garrison Officer Commander 9 Infantry Division Kohat Major General Shahid Amir Officer is personally present in Kohat Police Lines to counter the terrorists as the security operation continues. After the explosion, the law enforcement agencies are engaged in action against the attackers.

Fitna al-Khawarij carried out the attack using an explosives-laden vehicle, which was detonated between the mosque and the CTD office in Old Police Lines. After the massive explosion, there was an exchange of fire between the armed terrorists and the police and army personnel.
The security forces and the police launched a retaliatory operation during which three Khawarij were reportedly killed. According to sources, all three belonged to Afghanistan. The police said that the blast caused severe damage to the exterior of the mosque, while a wall also collapsed due to the blast.
Due to the strong explosion, the nearby buildings were also damaged, and the destruction at the scene increased. Rescue 1122 and police teams reached the spot as soon as the explosion was reported.
According to the information provided, during the ongoing search and rescue operation, more than 30 injured and dead persons have been shifted to hospitals by rescue 1122 ambulances.
14 ambulances, rescue vehicles, a recovery vehicle and more than 45 rescue personnel are involved in the search and rescue operation at the scene. Rescue teams are busy searching the affected area and providing emergency aid.
